This school year Realtors representing the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) visited the public elementary schools in Montgomery County including Camargo Elementary, Mapleton Elementary, and Mt. Sterling Elementary and presented a book. Each school received Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun by esteemed author Maria Dismondy. This charming story empowers children to always do the right thing and be proud of themselves, even when they are faced with a challenging person.
In its tenth year, Melissa Poynter, the chair of the LBAR community education task force, has continued to lead this project. Realtors Dwight Akers, Sue Fugate, Lucile Hardin, Joan Henderson, Brenda Murphy, Sherry Stephens, and Liz Torchia delivered the book and read to a group of students during library class. This contribution to Montgomery County is part of a larger donation to the public elementary schools in the Bluegrass region —LBAR will be presenting the book to over 140 elementary schools in 22 counties. The project is part of LBAR’s goal to become involved with the area’s school systems in innovative ways that will positively shape the future of our community’s children.
